Fly Fishing Prints and Paintings:

Mike Schad lives at the “end of the road” in rural Southeastern Minnesota with his wife Connie and their cats Big Guy and Little Guy.

Schad’s work has been in one-man shows and several multi-artist exhibitions, and his drawings and paintings are in numerous private collections. He works in a studio on the premises and executes his paintings in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel and watercolor. While figurative work is his main focus, he occasionally gets out to work from whatever nature has to offer.

From 1990 to the present, Mike has been a staff illustrator for \Midwest Fly Fishing magazine. He served on the Board of Directors at the “Rochester Art Center” in Rochester, Minn., and is currently on the board of the Jon Hassler Theater in Plainview, Minn., where he organizes exhibits in the visual art gallery. Schad has studied art at numerous colleges around the Midwest and attended several workshops at the Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale Ariz. He currently teaches figure and portrait workshops at Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota, Minn.

As an avid fly fisherman, Mike has recently combined his interest in that activity and his passion for painting to create a block of work that is currently showing at the Vermilion Sporting Arts Gallery.
